North Carolina Weather: Rain Advisory Issued

CHARLOTTE, NC — The work week is off to a dreary start in the Queen City region as rain moves into the area, increasing the chances for localized flooding in low-lying areas, according to a weather advisory released by the National Weather Service.

Rain moved into the area in earnest early Monday and is expected to remain a possibility in the forecast through the end of the week. By Tuesday, however, winds are expected to pick up, leading to potential gusts up to 32 miles per hour.

"Heavy rainfall will move across the area today and tonight," the National Weather Service said in a hazardous weather outlook. "Flooding may develop in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight will produce occasional cloud to ground lightning and brief gusty winds."
